CASE STUDY 01

FMCSA‑Compliant ELD Log File Generation

✦ Compliance Feature 🚛 Transportation Tech 📄 ELD / FMCSA Spec ⚙️ Back‑End Logic ✅ Fully Tested
⚠️
The Challenge

No Way to Share Compliant Records

Drivers needed a reliable way to share their electronic logging records by email. The application had no feature to produce the exact FMCSA‑mandated file format, leaving drivers at risk of formatting errors every time they needed to submit or share their logs.

💡
The Solution

One‑Click Regulation‑Ready Files

I implemented a log‑file generation module that reads the driver's ELD records directly from the application, maps every field to the FMCSA‑required structure, and produces a correctly formatted file ready to share — all without the driver touching any configuration.

🏆
The Result

Compliance at the Push of a Button

Drivers can now generate a properly structured, regulation‑compliant log file directly from the system. The manual preparation step is gone, and the risk of formatting mistakes during inspections or audits is eliminated completely.

MY CONTRIBUTION

What I Built & Delivered

This was a full‑stack implementation task — starting from reading the FMCSA electronic logging specification, through writing and wiring the generation logic, all the way to testing the output against the spec to confirm every single field was correct.

The feature was then integrated cleanly into the existing driver workflow so that it felt like a natural part of the product rather than a bolted‑on addition.

01

Analyzed the Required ELD / FMCSA File Structure

Read the official FMCSA electronic logging specification to understand every required field, segment ordering, and formatting rule before writing a single line of code.

02

Implemented the File‑Generation Logic

Built the core module that assembles the file from scratch — writing each data segment in the exact sequence and format prescribed by the regulation.

03

Mapped Application Data to the Required Format

Connected every internal data model field to its corresponding FMCSA output field, handling edge cases like missing values and data‑type conversions.

04

Added the Feature to the Existing Workflow

Integrated the generation trigger into the driver‑facing UI so the feature felt native — one action in the existing flow, not an extra detour.

05

Tested Generated Records Against the Expected Structure

Validated every produced file against the specification, comparing field by field to confirm 100% structural compliance before shipping.

CASE STUDY 02

Automating a Large-Scale Data Migration

How custom software automation transformed 2 months of high-risk, tedious manual database transfer into a 4-hour flawless, 100% accurate migration.

⚠️
The Challenge

2 Months of Manual Transfer & High Risk

The client was migrating from an old software system to a new platform. The existing data had to be transferred while maintaining relationships, business rules, and data consistency. Performing the migration manually was estimated to take around two months of monotonous, error-prone human effort.

💡
The Solution

Automated Migration & Schema Engine

I analyzed the structure of the legacy database and mapped it to the new system. I developed an automated migration process to transform, validate, and transfer the data while handling differences between the old and new database structures seamlessly.

🏆
The Result

2 Months Reduced to ~4 Hours

A process that could have required approximately 2 months of manual work was reduced to around 4 hours through automation. Zero lost records, zero broken entity links, and 100% operational readiness for the client on Day 1.

HOW IT WORKS

Easily Understandable: How We Solved It

When a business upgrades software systems, moving historical data manually is like re-typing thousands of spreadsheets by hand. It's slow, expensive, and a single mistake can break customer records or invoice histories.

Instead of manual data entry, we engineered an automated data pipeline. This tool automatically extracted data from the legacy system, restructured and validated every entry, re-connected relational links, and pushed everything into the new platform flawlessly.
